Chicago Fact: The Loop is so named because Chicago's elevated train tracks (locals call it The El) surround the area.
(October 28, 2005) – Today a parade of 6 Double Deckers and 5 Trolleys carried the Chicago White Sox through a sea of ticker-tape and loud cheers as they celebrated their first World Series win since 1917. Hundreds of thousands of fans dressed in black and white came out to see the World Series Champions riding victoriously through downtown and to celebrate with them.
“Even the smallest fans had a great view of their heroes because the players were riding above the crowd,” said Chicago Double Decker President, Rob Pierson. “Every fan that turned out felt like a part of the celebration.”
The Chicago Trolley Company provided 6 Double Deckers and 5 Trolleys for the White Sox World Series Parade that started at U.S. Cellular Field, rode through several Southside neighborhoods and ended in the Loop.
