May 3 & 4: With excitement abounding, we load our luggage and point our coach Westward as we get acquainted with our fellow "California Dreamers"! Today's journey takes us to Bettendorf, Iowa where we overnight at the Isle of Capri. Our second day of travel takes us to our hotel in Kearney, Nebraska. Sleep wee -- tomorrow's gonna' be a great day! (1-B)
May 5: This morning we visit the Great Platte River Road Archway, an adventure that transports you back in time to an era when covered wagons, hand-pulled carts, and trains first criss-crossed the prairies. It's an interactive adventure that pays tribute to the pioneers who passed through Nebraska on their way West. Later today, upon arrival in Cheyenne, Wyoming, we will be guests at Terry's Bison Ranch where we'll take a train tour through the ranch to see the bison, and then have a wonderful Western meal. (B, D)
May 6 & 7: Away we go to Moab, Utah and our two night stay at the Red Cliffs Lodge nestled on the banks of the Colorado River, surrounded by magnificent 2,000 feet-high cliffs - awesome! During our time here, we will have a guided tour of Canyonlands and Arches National Parks, the "Canyonlands by Night Sound and Light Show" with Dutch Oven Dinner, a 2-Hours Scenic Jet Boat Tour with Navajo Fry Bread Lunch, a Riverside Lunch, Movie Night and Wine Tasting, and a Western cookout - WOW! (2-B, 1-L, 2-D)
May 8: Salt Lake City is our destination today, and if we're very lucky, we just might be able to catch a rehearsal this evening of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir! No guarantees, because their rehearsal schedule isn't out yet, but they often do them on Thursdays, so cross your fingers! If not, enjoy a relaxing evening at our SLC hotel, (B, L)
May 9: A day primarily of travel as we cross into Nevada with a late afternoon arrival at the Atlantis Casino Resort in Reno. Even if you are not into gaming, this provides a very lovely place to overnight as it is one of Reno's most luxurious properties - nearly $150 million has been spent on upgrading the facility. For those who might enjoy an evening dip, the pool is gorgeous!! (B)
May 10: An early departure allows us to arrive in time to hear "All Aboard" as the Napa Valley Gourmet Wine Train awaits us. Above the crowd, almost 180-degree Napa Valley vineyard vistas will be yours to enjoy under the antique dome windows as you relax on a 3 hour round-trip journey through one of the world's most well-known wine valleys. A glass of California wine and a 4-course freshly-prepared lunch will be served in your reserved Vista Dome Car, and elevated observation-style dining car expertly refurbished using mahogany paneling and brass accents. Then it's on to "The City by the Bay", San Francisco! Our home for the next 3 nights is a 4-minute walk from Fisherman's Wharf, in the middle of the bustling waterfront area. So much to see and do here ~ Fun, Fun!! (B, L)
May 11: A guided San Francisco tour will be today's great adventure! See things such as the Golden Gate Bridge & Park, a view of Lombard Street with its famous Cable Cars, China town, Twin Peaks, and as much more as time allows. Then this evening we'll set sail from Pier 3 on a San Francisco Bay dinner Cruise. Enjoy a live band, 4-course meal, and magnificent sights - what a great day! (B, D)
May 12: Departing from Fisherman's Wharf, we cross the Golden Gate Bridge to a canyon filled with ancient redwood trees known as Muir Woods National Monument. Enjoy solitude and peace as you stroll through 1000-year-old towering trees! Next is Sausalito, a Mediterranean-like village harbored across the San Francisco Bay, famous for its sweeping views and timeless ambiance. Back to our hotel to catch the ferry for the Alcatraz Island Night Cruise-tour, considered the best of the Alcatraz tour choices. It includes a narrated boat tour around the island, a guided tour from the dock to the main prison building, and "Doing Time: The Alcatraz Cellhouse Tour". What a unique and fascinating day!! (B)
May 13: Yosemite National Park covers an area of 761,268 acres (roughly the size of Rhode Island) and reaches across the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountain chain. Over 3.7 million people visit Yosemite each year; most spend their time in the seven square miles of Yosemite Valley. Designated a World Heritage Site in 1984, Yosemite is internationally recognized for its spectacular granite cliffs, waterfalls, clear streams and Giant Sequoia groves. On our 2-hour tour rangers will introduce some of Yosemite's most famous sightseeing points in Yosemite Valley such as Yosemite Falls, Half Dome, El Capitan, Tunnel View, Bridalveil Falls and more. Then we continue to Chukchansa Gold Casino Resort, providing us restful, lovely overnight accommodations.(B, D)
May 14: Today we enjoy some of the Pacific Ocean's most scenic coastal touring. Considered by National Geographic to be one of the "World's Most Spectacular Drives of a Lifetime", California's Pacific Coast Highway, also known as Rt. 1, is an exhilarating driving experience along central California's rugged, rocky coast. Have plenty of film in your camera as we depart from Monterey and make photo stops at overlooks in places such as Big Sur and Nepenthe! All along the way, views of the Pacific Ocean will take your breath away. We stop for our overnight in San Simeon at a lovely oceanfront hotel where dinner is included. (D)
May 15: Travel back in time and experience what is was like to be an honored guest at the stately Hearst Castle, originally known as "The Enchanted Hill." this mansion, which W.R. Heart called a "ranch", consists of 165 rooms, (including 56 bedrooms, 51 bathrooms, 19 sitting rooms) and 127 acres of gardens, terraces, pools, an airfield, and the world's largest private zoo. Enjoy a tour and then some free time to explore - this place is absolutely unbelievable! Continuing down Rt. 1, we arrive mid-afternoon in the Danish village of Solvang located in the Santa Ynez Valley. You will love the architecture of many of the buildings which reflect traditional Danish style. There is a copy of the famous Little Mermaid statue from Copenhagen, as well as one featuring the bust of famed Danish fable writer Hans Christian Anderson. A replica of Copenhagen's Round Tower or Rundetarn can be seen in the town center. Our hotel's great location will give you ample time to roam and enjoy this quaint village to your heart's content. (B)
May 16: Passing by Santa Barbara Beach (with a stop, if open to the public), we make our way to Simi Valley. Perched atop a hill with sweeping views of the southland, the Reagan Presidential Library is one of California's most beautiful and unique destinations. In a storied career that spanned more than 5 decades, Ronald Reagan inspired Americans to act and achieve even more than they imagined. His legacy thrives at the Library where exhibits rediscover his values, actions, and spirit of determination. You will enjoy a self-guided tour as well as access to the Air Force One pavilion. Then on we go to the "City of Angels", Los Angeles! The most populous city in California and the second-most populous in the USA after New York City, we could spend a week here and not see everything. But we have chosen what's considered "the best of the best", and can't wait for you to see it with your own eyes! Our hotel for the next 3 nights is on the outskirts of a town in Hawthorne. Relax and rest up for a marvelous time comin' your way! (D)

Note: We have found the hotels in California not to be especially "user-friendly". In other words, they have very strict contract policies regarding cancellations and how long they will hold our reservations. In order to assure that we maintain all reservations, we need your deposit AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so that we know how many are planning to go, and if we have enough to run this tour. Balance will be due in full by February 14th (a great Valentine's gift!), and non-refundable from that point on, unless you purchase the cancellation insurance, which will be sent to you for your perusal upon making your reservation. We strongly advise taking out the insurance to protect your investment.
