Tour Itinerary:

April 29 –Today we arrive at Dutch Valley complex in Sugarcreek to allow a little free time to enjoy the complex which will be filled with spring flowers and tulip displays. Enjoy lunch on your own here before we meet our guide who will take us on a tour of the area. Next stop is at Behalt where you will be introduced to the Amish and Mennonite Heritage at the cyclorama which illustrates the history from their early beginnings to the present day. This experience is very unique and educational with a beautiful artistic exhibit that will leave you with a deep understanding of these peaceful people. Next stop will be at Walnut Creek Cheese featuring cheese shop, bulk food store, cannery and kitchenware store ! The calm, immaculate atmosphere that prevails throughout the shops lets you know you’re not in a regular supermarket or mall – you are in Amish Country ! Enjoy an ice cream which is included for each passenger here. We will then check into our local hotel. By dinner time, we will arrive for a cooking demonstration along with private tour and dinner at Warther’s Carvings. Mr. Warther is best known for his ivory and ebony carvings which were appraised by the Smithsonian as “Priceless Works of Art”. We will have a guided tour to see all the carvings created by the Warther family – it is incredible. Visit Mrs. Warther’s Swiss Garden and Button house, the original family home, the tulip beds, and one of the area’s finest gift shops is the exclusive home of Warther’s Cutlery. Dinner is served in the Ivory Room where you will be treated to a culinary delight, complete with the style and grace for which Warther’s Carvings is noted. (D)
