Tour Itinerary:

May 17 – With time to get acquainted, we start thinking “sunshine” and point our deluxe motorcoach south with an overnight in North Carolina.

May 18 – This morning we depart for Charleston, South Carolina, known as America’s most beautifully-preserved architectural and historical treasure. Its appeal has been described as a “living museum”. Have fun exploring the famous Charleston Market on your own – our last group wanted more time here! And then relax as we introduce you to The Charleston Historic District, one of the countries finest. We will show you all the best on our specially-guided tour, complete with stories and traditions of her colorful past, mansions, gardens and churches. Our hotel overlooks the beautiful Ashley River, and we’ll enjoy an included dinner at a popular restaurant on James Island, where the Civil War began. (B, D)

May 19 – We’re off to tour what Charles Kuralt called his “….greatest Charleston pleasure,” Magnolia Plantation and its magnificent Gardens considered by many to be the “most beautiful gardens in the world”. Our journey continues to Historic Savannah where you will have a wonderful guided tour. You will especially love the unique homes along cobble-stoned Riverstreet. Enjoy dinner at “Riverhouse”, and then on to Jekyll Island, our home for the next three nights. This beautiful island is privately owned by the renowned Jekyll Island Club, was a playground for the rich. Relax in the undisturbed setting of this protected barrier island. (B, D)

May 20 – Our morning begins with a tram tour of the island which was the winter retreat of some of America’s most elite families until 1947 when Georgia purchased it and built a causeway linking it to the mainland for the first time. See the grand “cottages” and the majestic Queen Anne-style clubhouse. Much of that era has been carefully preserved and restored in the Jekyll Island National Historic Landmark District. Our next visit is across the Marshes of Glynn onto St. Simon’s Island, a popular vacation destination since Native Americans shared the rich bounty of these islands hundreds of years ago. Enjoy a guided tour of this quaint island with its moss-draped oaks, shady lanes and creek-fed marsh pockets. *Fun Fact: Best-selling author Eugenia Price wrote her historical novels here! Time for dinner and browsing on your own. (B,)

May 21 – We expanded our itinerary by one day, per your request, to give you more time on the Island. Today is YOUR day to plan any way you wish! Your oceanfront hotel is adjacent to the widest and most pristine beach on Jekyll Island, with wonderful views of Cumberland Island and the Atlantic Ocean. Relax on the beach, browse the shops, bring your golf clubs, go horseback riding or take a dolphin cruise. Dinner is included at “Fins” to cap off a special day! (B, D)

May 22 – We’re off to Atlanta, Georgia’s capital, and one of the most diverse and exciting southern cities you’ll ever visit! During our time here, a professionally-guided tour will include such things as Centennial Olympic Park, the gold-domed State Capitol Bldg., Governor’s Mansion, Atlantic Station, Victorian Inman Park, CNN Studios (if open to public tours), and an evening visit to majestic Stone Mountain, Georgia’s #1 attraction, featuring a Confederate carving on a 1,685-foot granite mountain.(B, D)

May 23 – We finish our Atlantic touring, and then it’s time to head north, but the fun is far from over! We are going to “Music City USA”, Nashville, Tennessee and the fabulous Opryland Hotel! Nine acres of indoor gardens, cascading waterfalls and an indoor river complete with a Delta flatboat will make for a great ending to this excellent tour. Enjoy dinner on your own at your choice of one of the Hotel’s many restaurants, take a ride on the boat, and a free evening exploring this magnificent place. (B)

May 24 – We include your breakfast at the Hotel this morning – and then, with meal and rest stops planned for your traveling comfort, we finish our journey home, loaded with great memories from a true “Southern Antebellum Vacation”! (B)

Cost Includes: deluxe motorcoach transportation, 7 nights accommodations, 7 breakfasts, 4 dinners, all touring and admissions as listed, luggage handling and taxes.
