Tour itinerary:

June 18 – We head across scenic Pennsylvania and New York with our first overnight near Milford, Connecticut tonight. Dinner will be included. (D)

June 19 – Breakfast included at your hotel before we check out and head to the rich and famous playground of Newport, Rhode Island which will host us for one night. We will arrive in perfect time to step aboard the beautiful Newport Luncheon Cruise as you sail on the water with fabulous views. Enjoy a delicious on board lunch buffet as you glide by the fabulous coastal sites with Gilded age mansions, Ida Lewis Yacht Club, Jacqueline Kennedy’s summer home, Hammersmith Farm, the towering Newport Bridge, the famous “Rock House” and more. It just doesn’t get much better than this for water scenery ! You will then love our driving tour of Newport – with such beautiful surroundings including views from “The Point”, Newport’s authentic Colonial homestead and the unbelievable mansions of the famous “Ten Mile Drive”. You will learn about the well-known yachting history, the famous summer residents and enjoy views of historic Fort Adams. Our tour will include the sumptuous 1902 Rosecliff Mansion which was originally built for the Nevada silver heiress, “Tessie” Fair Oelrichs…simply filled with an amazing background. This mansion is best known for the French architecture, and was once attended by the marvelous rich and famous socials in its day – what a magnificent experience. A trip to Newport would not be complete without some time at the popular Brick Marketplace located on beautiful Newport Harbor where you will have time to stretch your legs and meander on your own at your choice of eateries for dinner – it is just beautiful here. (B, L)

June 20 – Breakfast included at your hotel. For those interested, there will be time this morning for photo ops at the famous Newport Cliff Walk along the eastern shore which is world famous as a public access walk combining the natural beauty of the Newport shoreline with the architectural history of Newport’s gilded age. What makes the Cliff Walk unique is it is a National Recreation Trail in a National Historic District. Then get ready for the Breaker’s Mansion tour – the grandest of all of Newport’s mansions known as “summer cottages”. The Breakers is a symbol of the Vanderbilt family’s social and financial prominence in turn of the century and you will enjoy the views from the estate which is perched high on a bluff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean – beautiful experience for all. There will be free time allowed at one of the finest natural Harbors in New England at Bowen’s Wharf – take a stroll along the wharf on scenic Newport Harbor filled with shops and restaurants and enjoy lunch on your own. This area has become Newport’s premier dining and shopping destination with beautiful brick walks and granite quays. Our last touring stop in the area will be at the Green Animals Topiary Garden, considered one of the best topiary gardens in the country. You will see over 80 sculptured trees and shrubs – how do they do that ? Other highlights will be the Brayton House, formal flower beds and beautiful ocean views. We will say goodbye to New England as we head towards home with an overnight at everyone’s favorite spot – Country Cupboard. (B)

June 21 – Breakfast is included and there will be time to enjoy the Country Cupboard shops this morning before we head for home after a great seaside vacation. (B)
