June 22 – Continental breakfast included. This morning we will visit the medieval-style Hammond Castle. This European Castle was built by John Hays Hammond, Jr. as a wedding present for his wife (Irene) to prove how much he cared for her. It was built between the years 1926 and 1929 to serve both as his home and as a backdrop for his collection of roman, medieval and Renaissance artifacts. In addition this building housed the Hammond Research Corporation from which Dr. Hammond produced over 400 patents and ideas for over 800 inventions ! Second only to Thomas Edison in number of patents, John Hammond was one of America’s premier inventors. You will enjoy the beauty of the castle grounds and a view of the Atlantic shore line from the gardens…you will love this premier visit. Our next stop will be at the very tip of scenic Cape Ann with true New England at its best. There will be free time allowed to have lunch on your own and browse the many galleries and boutiques of Cape Ann – enjoy. We will continue on and meander up the coast on one of New England’s top ten scenic roadways….New Hampshire packs a fabulous view into their 17 miles of scenic shoreline! There will be a photo stop at one of Maine’s most photographed Lighthouse at Nubble Light – once you see it you will recognize it from postcards, TV and greeting cards. A traditional Maine lobsterbake dinner will be included with our overnight at Portland, Maine tonight. (CB, D)

Known for its exceptional coastal lights, you will follow the stunning Cape Elizabeth rocky coastline, see Cape Elizabeth Light, Portland Breakwater Light, Rams Island Ledge Light, Spring Point Light and of course, the famous Portland Headlight which is proudly perched overlooking spectacular Casco Bay. At Bailey Island, we will travel to the land of bright, buoy-covered lobster shacks, quaint fishing villages, rocky shoreline and Maine’s one-of-a-kind cribstone bridge. Located at the very tip of one of Maine’s coastal fingers, get your cameras ready for lots of photo-ops on picturesque Bailey Island. We will visit the popular Land’s End Gift Shop, well known as a Maine landmark which is at the very edge of this wonderful isle. Lunch will be included at the famous Lobster House surrounded by ocean views. And the views and scenery just keep coming….we will have a tour at the beautiful Mount Battie overlooking scenic Penobscot Bay and the Gulf of Maine.
