Next is check-in at our host hotel to freshen up before our evening out. Within a very short drive, we will arrive at the Walkersville Scenic Railroad Station built by the Pennsylvania Railroad in the late 1800’s. You will then step aboard the Walkersville’s richly restored dining car where you will enjoy a served meal with gracious service in a grand setting – step back in time and immerse yourself as you relax on this leisurely ride and soothing background music while dining…a lovely and unique experience for all – this is how life used to be ! Early this afternoon, we will say goodbye to this little gem of a town, and travel on to our next stop at the Steam Into History Train. You will enjoy a 2 hour train excursion along the same rails that carried President Lincoln from Washington to Gettysburg to deliver one of the greatest speeches in American History, the Gettysburg Address. Enjoy the unspoiled beauty of the rolling countryside, much as it was in the late 1860’s as you relive Civil War railroad history. Shortly after his arrival in America, he became Pastor of Rock Creek Presbyterian Church located just a mile out of what is known as Gettysburg. Today his home, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is what is known as the Dobbin House Tavern Restaurant…you will dine amidst these historic walls with gracious service which brings back the sounds and tastes of two centuries ago – enjoy your unique dining experience !
