Tour Itinerary:

DAY ONE - Start Thinking About Sunshine

❖ With time to get acquainted, we start thinking “sunshine” and point our deluxe motorcoach south as we begin a wonderful seven-day adventure to a most beautiful area of our country! Overnight in North Carolina.

DAY TWO - Charleston, South Carolina

❖ This morning we depart for Charleston, South Carolina, known as America’s most beautifully-preserved architectural and historical treasure. Its appeal has been described as a “living museum”. We will enjoy exploring this gorgeous place including time to browse the famous Charleston Market - our last group wanted more time here!! The historic district is one of the countries finest, and we will see all the best on our special guided tour. We will check into our hotel overlooking the beautiful Ashley River, and then have an included dinner at a popular local restaurant on James Island, where the Civil War began.
Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

DAY THREE - Magnolia Plantation & Savannah

❖ We’re off to tour what Charles Kuralt called his “….greatest Charleston pleasure,” Magnolia Plantation and its magnificent Gardens considered by many to be the “most beautiful gardens in the world”. Our journey continues to Historic Savannah where you will have a wonderful guided tour. You will especially love the unique homes and sights along cobble-stoned Riverstreet. Enjoy dinner at “The Riverhouse”, and then it’s on to Jekyll Island, our home for the next three nights - WOW!!. This beautiful island was once privately owned by the renowned Jekyll Island Club, and was a playground for the rich. Relax in the undisturbed setting of this protected barrier island.
Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

DAY FOUR - Jekyll Island

❖ Our morning begins with a tram tour of the island which was the winter retreat of some of America’s most elite families until 1947 when Georgia purchased it and built a causeway linking it to the mainland for the first time. See the grand “cottages” surrounding the majestic Queen Anne-style clubhouse. Much of that era has been carefully preserved and faithfully restored in the Jekyll Island National Historic Landmark District. Our next visit is across the marshes of Glynn onto St. Simon’s Island, a popular vacation destination since Native Americans shared the rich bounty of these islands hundreds of years ago. Enjoy a guided tour of this quaint island with its moss-draped oaks, shady lanes and creek-fed pockets of marsh. (Fun Fact: Best-selling author Eugenia Price wrote her historical novels here!)  Time for dinner and browsing on your own here
Meals: Breakfast

DAY FIVE - More Time on the Island

❖ We have expanded our itinerary by one day, per popular request, to give you more time on the Island.  today is YOUR day to plan any way you wish!  Your oceanfront hotel is adjacent to the widest and most pristine beach on Jekyll Island, with wonderful views of Cumberland Island and the Atlantic Ocean.  Relax on the beach, browse the shops, bring your golf clubs, go horseback riding or take a dolphin cruise.  Dinner is included at "Fins"  a local favorite restaurant to cap off a special day!
Meals:  Breakfast & Dinner

DAY SIX - Atlanta, Georgia
❖ We’re off to Atlanta, Georgia’s capital, and one of the most exciting southern cities you’ll ever visit!  A guided tour will include such things as Centennial Olympic Park, CNN studios (if open to public tours), the National Museum of Patriotism, Centennial Park, drive by Charles Stanley's Church and more as time allows.  This evening we'll go out to majestic Stone Mountain, Georgia's #1 attraction, featuring a Confederate carving on a 1,685-foot granite mountain.  Enjoy a delicious dinner and take in the beautiful scenery. .
Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

DAY Seven - Start Heading North

❖  A little more Atlanta touring, and then it’s time to start our journey north, but the fun is far from over! We are heading to "Music City USA", Nashville, TN and the fabulous Opryland Hotel - WOW!!!  Nine acres of indoor gardens, cascading waterfalls and an indoor river complete with a Delta flatboat will make for a great ending to this excellent tour.  Enjoy dinner on your own at your choice of one of the Hotel's many restaurants, a ride on the boat, and a free evening exploring this magnificent place!
Meals: Breakfast

DAY Eight - Almost Home

❖ We include your breakfast at the Hotel this morning - and then, with meal and rest stops planned for your travel comfort, we finish our journey home, loaded with memories form a true "Southern Antebellum Vacation"!

** You may find a trip to Georgia less expensive, but compare inclusions - we're doing so much more touring than most!  If you're going all the way to Georgia, don't settle for a lesser-quality tour that only goes a few places -- this one is LOADED!!**

CANCELED TOURS:
Gad-About Tours Inc. reserves the right to cancel any tour that has not reached a minimum number of reservations. We reserve the right to change tour prices and itinerary. Tours are prepared up to a year in advance and may be impacted by circumstances that arise which are beyond our control. We reserve the right to cancel or refuse service to anyone, in our sole discretion. We always avoid changes and cancellations if at all possible, as we realize the inconvenience to you, our valued customer.

TRANSPORTATION:
All of our tours are by late-model, deluxe wide-body motorcoach. They are equipped with air-conditioning, reclining seats, public address system, VCR, and emergency restrooms. Our intent is for all overnight tours to be professionally escorted for your convenience. Upon occasion, in order to avoid canceling a trip with a low passenger count, our driver may serve both positions of driver and escort, and all are professionally trained to do so. Also, on air trips with low passenger counts, we may not be able to provide an escort from our company. However, we will provide airport transportation*, plus a guide from our connecting company will meet you upon arrival at your destination and be with you throughout the entire tour. (*If only a few are going on a given air tour, we will pay your airport parking fee in lieu of using the coach.)

LODGING:
Your lodging is included on all overnight tours. All hotels are AAA rated. We never use second-rate hotels, restaurants, or activities on any tour, to the best of our ability to make that determination. Payment of telephone calls, room service, and other incidentals at places of lodging are the responsibility of the customer.

LUGGAGE:
One suitcase per person is included in the price of your tour. You are also permitted a carry-on, which is your responsibility. Additional luggage may be transported at the cost of $5.00 per bag, per day. It is wise to travel light. Luggage tags are provided and required for hotel identification, and are sent with the final letter with the phone numbers of your hotels.

TAXES AND GRATUITIES:
All taxes and gratuities for included meals and activities are included, unless otherwise mentioned by the Escort. Driver and Escort gratuities are not included in the price of the tour, and are optional. However, the suggested gratuity as posted by the American Bus Assoc. for a job well done is $2.00-$2.50 per person/per day for the tour escort, and $2.00-$2.50 per person/per day for the driver. We request that you express this on an individual basis, and let the quality of service received be your guide.

SEATING:
On all overnight tours, we use a daily seat rotation. The first day of a trip, we allow you to choose your seat when you get on, and rotate from there. We feel this is fair to all involved. If the coach is not full, a less formal rotation may be used at escort’s discretion.

SMOKING:
We make regular stops for restrooms and for the convenience of smokers; however, we have a NO SMOKING policy aboard all coaches. This policy also applies to e-cigarettes.

RESPONSIBILITY:
Gad-About Tours, Inc. is bonded, insured, and registered with the ICC, number MC 198451.
