DAY TWO: Such a perfect time of year to tour in the scenic region known as New England! We begin in Bennington to see the Covered Bridges in this area - have your cameras ready! Then visit the Bennington Museum to learn of the rich heritage of southern Vermont and see the Grandma Moses Schoolhouse. Lunch is at the Publyk House, a restored 3-story horse barn overlooking the village and full of pure Vermont charm! We’ll also see the famous West Arlington Covered Bridge with Norman Rockwell’s Vermont home on the other side - walk thru into The Sugar Shack with VT goodies and Rockwell exhibit. On we go to Manchester and the Lincoln Family Home known as “Hildene”, a mansion built in 1905 by the son of Abe himself,
Robert Todd Lincoln. Visit the Weston Country Store, an icon of VT where you’ll step back in time with all kinds of old-fashioned goodies for sale! Later, an intimate dinner awaits at the elegant Castle Hill Resort, providing a feast for the eyes and pallet. Overnight at the Pointe Hotel in the Green Mountains amidst a breathtaking setting. ** Note: The area that this tour encompasses boasts an abundance of picturesque Covered Bridges. All through our touring, we will be viewing these gems and giving you photo opportunities at as many as possible. We estimate around 10, at the least! ~ ‘Have plenty of film in your camera! (B,L,D)
DAY THREE: A great day awaits us as we are welcomed to the Pres. Coolidge Homestead & Village. This is considered one of the best-preserved Presidential sites in the nation - see the General Store, Church, Barns, and more. Stopping at the Lincoln Covered Bridge, we journey on to one of our favorite New England towns, Woodstock - browse the quaint stores, stroll the Village Green, and get a picture of the famous Middle Covered Bridge. Next is our time at the New England Maple Syrup Museum in Pittsford, rated by gourmet food magazines as one of the Top 10 Food Museums in the country! Taste the four grades of syrup, see a slide show and visit the sugarhouse - fun! Continuing on thru this scenic area, we arrive at our home for tonight, the Victorian 1827 ‘Middlebury Inn’, listed on the Register of Historic Hotels of America and one of the loveliest Inns in all of Vermont. With elegant Victorian restoration and Georgian red brick facade, it overlooks the village green as the town is surrounded by thousands of acres of National Forest. Enjoy tea & crumpets upon arrival, and later dinner at the Inn. (B,D)
DAY FOUR: Another day of awesome “leaf-peeping” as we see the Pulp Covered Bridge on our way to the Morgan Horse Farm owned by the University of VT. Visit the stables and see how they’re trained, and then watch them have their own “spa” session complete with horse smiles (honest!). Lunch today is at the Waybury Inn, made famous by the Bob Newhart Show (picture below) - Fun! ~ Relax on the coach as we cross Lake Champlain at Crown Point Bridge on our way to Queensbury, NY where dinner awaits at the Log Jam Restaurant, an authentic log cabin. You’ll think you’ve walked into an Adirondack logging camp of 100 years ago. An old pot-belly stove warmly greets you at the front door, wood plank floors stretch beneath your feet, pine logs cut from the mountains surround you, and massive stone fireplaces provide the perfect country setting - a Gad-about favorite! Overnight is at the Ft. William Henry Grand Hotel - experience the huge porch and lobby overlooking the head of beautiful Lake George. The original building was the “country inn” for the rich & famous of yesteryear!! (B,L,D)
DAY FIVE: Today we must depart for home, taking with us many wonderful
memories of a thoroughly excellent Autumn vacation. (B)

Gad-About Tours Inc. reserves the right to cancel any tour that has not reached a minimum number of reservations. We reserve the right to change tour prices and itinerary. Tours are prepared up to a year in advance and may be impacted by circumstances that arise which are beyond our control. We reserve the right to cancel or refuse service to anyone, in our sole discretion. We always avoid changes and cancellations if at all possible, as we realize the inconvenience to you, our valued customer.
All of our tours are by late-model, deluxe wide-body motorcoach. They are equipped with air-conditioning, reclining seats, public address system, VCR, and emergency restrooms. Our intent is for all overnight tours to be professionally escorted for your convenience. Upon occasion, in order to avoid canceling a trip with a low passenger count, our driver may serve both positions of driver and escort, and all are professionally trained to do so. Also, on air trips with low passenger counts, we may not be able to provide an escort from our company. However, we will provide airport transportation*, plus a guide from our connecting company will meet you upon arrival at your destination and be with you throughout the entire tour. (*If only a few are going on a given air tour, we will pay your airport parking fee in lieu of using the coach.)
Your lodging is included on all overnight tours. All hotels are AAA rated. We never use second-rate hotels, restaurants, or activities on any tour, to the best of our ability to make that determination. Payment of telephone calls, room service, and other incidentals at places of lodging are the responsibility of the customer.
One suitcase per person is included in the price of your tour. You are also permitted a carry-on, which is your responsibility. Additional luggage may be transported at the cost of $5.00 per bag, per day. It is wise to travel light. Luggage tags are provided and required for hotel identification, and are sent with the final letter with the phone numbers of your hotels.
TAXES AND GRATUITIES:
All taxes and gratuities for included meals and activities are included, unless otherwise mentioned by the Escort. Driver and Escort gratuities are not included in the price of the tour, and are optional. However, the suggested gratuity as posted by the American Bus Assoc. for a job well done is $2.00-$2.50 per person/per day for the tour escort, and $2.00-$2.50 per person/per day for the driver. We request that you express this on an individual basis, and let the quality of service received be your guide.
On all overnight tours, we use a daily seat rotation. The first day of a trip, we allow you to choose your seat when you get on, and rotate from there. We feel this is fair to all involved. If the coach is not full, a less formal rotation may be used at escort’s discretion.
We make regular stops for restrooms and for the convenience of smokers; however, we have a NO SMOKING policy aboard all coaches. This policy also applies to e-cigarettes.
