What a magnificent Holiday Tour!! Charleston, South Carolina is know as "The Cradle of Southern History and Charm" and is such a beautiful and exciting place to be at Christmas-time. The weather is mild, the Holiday market and downtown area bustle with activity, the wonderful scents & lights of Christmas are in the air, and Brookgreen's spectacular event puts the icing on the cake ... or on the 'Figgy Pudding', to be more appropriate!
DAY ONE: Grab your mistletoe and holly, and away we go as our sleigh, I mean 'deluxe motorcoach', whisks us away for five days of delightful and inspiring Christmas Prelude in the beautiful South! Tonight we stay in Mooresville, North Carolina, a small area near Lake Norman.
DAY TWO: Continuing our journey, we arrive in Savannah, Georgia and check in at the Cambria Suites. Who hasn't heard of Paula Deen? Tonight's dinner is included at her "Lady and Sons Restaurant"! Afterwards, you can walk off your meal on quaint, cobble-stoned River Steet - the waterfront views are beautiful! Our evening will find us taking our reserved seats for "A Christmas Tradition" at the wonderful Savannah Theatre. Two hours of glitz and glitter awaits you s the theater is transformed into a perfect holiday picture - hear Christmas classics, comedy, and all the componets to make this a night last year's group raved about! (B,D)
DAY THREE: Today we're off to the second-oldest city in South Carolina, Beaufort. It is located on Port Royal Island in the heart the heart of the Sea Islands and Lowcountry. The city is renowned for its scenic location and for maintaining a historic character by preservation of its amazing architecture. Beaufort has been featured in the New York times and named "Best Small Southern Town" by southern Living, and a "Top 50 Adventure Town" by National Geographic. Such a treat awaits us here - a narrated Horse Drawn Carriage Tour where we'll re-live the past through the narrations of a professional guide and the clippity-clop of horse. Learn about Beaufort's Civil War History, see Antebellum Homes and Victorian Architecture - wonderful! This afternoon, we make a special stop at the Charleston Tea Plantation, home of American Classis Tea, tea actually grown in America! It is located on picturesque Waldmalaw Island in the heart of Couth Carolina's Lowcountry, and its grounds include 127 acres of tea plants, a working Tea Factory and a charming Plantation Gift shoppe. Later, enjoy an included dinner at the popular James Island Crab House (otherentrees, too), and then baskin the Christmas lights at the James Island Park where over 500,000 lights provide an enchanting 3-mile driving tour. Such a festive way to end a thoroughly delightful day! Our hotel tonight overlooks the beautiful Ashley River in Charleston. Sweet dreams! (B,D)
DAY FOUR: This morning, a local guide will take us on an excellent overview tour of Historic Charleston, such a gorgeous place, especially at Christmas time! It will end at the famous Charleston Market located right on the waterfront where an assortment of wares sold by hundreds of vendors awaits (think Christmas Gifts!). Sweet grass basket weaveers can be seen in every building as the market welcomes people from all over the world - the atmosphere is festive and the southern charm is everywhere - Fun! then it is time to depart for Brookgreen Gardens located near Pawleys Island, SC. Brookgreen is a National Historic Landmark and a display garden with the most extensive collection of figurative sculpture in an outdoor setting by American artist in the world - that's impressive! Their most popular event is the annual "Night of 1,000 Candles", one of the Top 20 Events in the Southeast. Stroll through the gardens, enjoy a lovely dinner and view spectacular lighting displays along with hand-lit candles that illuminate garden pats. All through the gardens musicians perform, carolers sing, and visitors experience the enchantment that only a magical "Night of a Thousand Candles" can bring! Past year's group LOVED everything about it!! ( B,D)
DAY FIVE: 'Broadway at the Beach' is one of Myrtle Beach's top attractions. Each holiday season, Ripley's Aquarium, which is located there, features their beautiful "Festival of Trees" event where you can tour the entire country in just one visit via state-themed trees representing the unique heritage and diversity of our 50 states!. After lunch, we must begin our trek home, with an overnight at a lovely hotel in Elkins, North Carolina. (B)

Gad-About Tours Inc. reserves the right to cancel any tour that has not reached a minimum number of reservations. We reserve the right to change tour prices and itinerary. Tours are prepared up to a year in advance and may be impacted by circumstances that arise which are beyond our control. All of our tours are by late-model, deluxe wide-body motorcoach. They are equipped with air-conditioning, reclining seats, public address system, VCR, and emergency restrooms. Our intent is for all overnight tours to be professionally escorted for your convenience. Upon occasion, in order to avoid canceling a trip with a low passenger count, our driver may serve both positions of driver and escort, and all are professionally trained to do so. Also, on air trips with low passenger counts, we may not be able to provide an escort from our company. However, we will provide airport transportation*, plus a guide from our connecting company will meet you upon arrival at your destination and be with you throughout the entire tour. (*If only a few are going on a given air tour, we will pay your airport parking fee in lieu of using the coach.)
Your lodging is included on all overnight tours. All hotels are AAA rated. We never use second-rate hotels, restaurants, or activities on any tour, to the best of our ability to make that determination. Payment of telephone calls, room service, and other incidentals at places of lodging are the responsibility of the customer.
One suitcase per person is included in the price of your tour. You are also permitted a carry-on, which is your responsibility. Additional luggage may be transported at the cost of $5.00 per bag, per day. It is wise to travel light. Luggage tags are provided and required for hotel identification, and are sent with the final letter with the phone numbers of your hotels.
TAXES AND GRATUITIES:
All taxes and gratuities for included meals and activities are included, unless otherwise mentioned by the Escort. Driver and Escort gratuities are not included in the price of the tour, and are optional. However, the suggested gratuity as posted by the American Bus Assoc. for a job well done is $2.00-$2.50 per person/per day for the tour escort, and $2.00-$2.50 per person/per day for the driver. We request that you express this on an individual basis, and let the quality of service received be your guide.
On all overnight tours, we use a daily seat rotation. The first day of a trip, we allow you to choose your seat when you get on, and rotate from there. We feel this is fair to all involved. If the coach is not full, a less formal rotation may be used at escort’s discretion.
We make regular stops for restrooms and for the convenience of smokers; however, we have a NO SMOKING policy aboard all coaches. This policy also applies to e-cigarettes.
