Tour Itinerary:

This great package combines wonderful entertainment at West Virginia’s premier theaters along with delightful meals at three different and unique resorts and inns as well as a beautiful countryside train excursion. You’ll love the expansive details in each day as you enjoy all this three day vacation has to offer – delicious meals, great entertainment and exciting scenery and touring throughout.

May 23 – Today we depart our home towns and head south with a late morning stop at the scenic Wisp Resort tucked away in the mountains of Western Maryland where the air is cooler and cleaner. During our visit (and weather permitting today) we will take a scenic chairlift ride to the top of the mountain and enjoy breathtaking views of Deep Creek Lake and the surrounding areas. (Be sure and bring appropriate jacket so you can enjoy this experience at its fullest! If not ready for the season, there is a chance the chairlift might not be open for our visit, but the resort felt it would be open at time of print – this is subject to change). A delicious lunch will be prepared for our visit as we enjoy all this lovely resort has to offer – just beautiful. We will then continue on our way and arrive at our hotel later this afternoon at the charming town of Elkins, West Virginia which will host us for the next two nights. But the fun is just beginning …tonight, you will enjoy an included dinner at the historic Graceland Inn, designated a National historic Landmark serving wonderfully prepared meals. After dinner, sit back in your seats and get ready for wonderful entertainment at the American Mountain Theater for their premier show where reviewers boast this as the “hottest show ticket between New York and Nashville”. This show is the state’s only Branson-style, family friendly, music and comedy variety show. The cast of seasoned entertainers will keep your toes tapping as you enjoy country music, gospel, bluegrass, patriotic and much more blended together to bring you the freshest sound in the mountains – it will be a lively good time for all. (L, D)

May 24 – Enjoy an expanded continental breakfast. By mid morning we will board the Tygart Flyer Train at the downtown resorted Elkins Depot for a four-hour, scenic train ride featuring two separate mountain grades. This smooth passenger train has gained a reputation as one of the most exciting mountain wilderness excursion rides in the United States. During your ride you will marvel at the spectacular “S” curve tunnel and miles of unspoiled mountain wilderness. The comfortable climate-controlled streamliner train twists and climbs along the cascading Shavers Fork of Cheat River into deep canyon area to the inspirational High Falls of Cheat, an 18-foot high and 150-foot wide waterfall deep in the mountains. A 30-45 minute stop here allows everyone, who is interested, the opportunity to detrain and enjoy the wilderness area around the falls. We highly recommend wearing good walking shoes – there are steps to the viewing area to see the falls so be prepared if you wish to partake. If you do not wish to climb the steps to the falls, you can still get off the train and stretch your legs and enjoy the outside picnic tables in the fresh air. During your time on board the train, a tasty box lunch will be included. (Seating on the train is normally included at tables – for those who enjoy a card game, you are welcome to bring cards or any other game to play on your own with traveling companions if you wish.) We will arrive back at the station later this afternoon just in time to attend the matinee show featuring American Mountain Theater’s “History of American Music” show. Come with us on a whirlwind musical journey highlighting the popular music styles of the 20th century. This fast paced and high energy show is well known to be an audience favorite and you are sure to hear one of your favorite songs. This evening we will enjoy another evening of dinner and entertainment at the Gandy Dancer Dinner Theater – delicious fun for all. (CB, L, D)

May 25 – Expanded continental breakfast included. We will then check out and depart for a fascinating demonstration and shopping stop at the Appalachian Glass. Their mission is to keep the tradition of hand made glass alive in West Virginia offering over 500 traditionally produced products from novelty items to elegant stemware and vases – all items are hand-crafted and mouth-blown right in West Virginia. The four -diamond Stonewall Resort will then host us for a lovely lunch today located at Stonewall Jackson State Park. Their talented culinary team creates dishes with a fresh twist on dining making this an exceptional experience for all…enjoy your lunch ! After lunch, we will enjoy a cruise on the Little Sorrel excursion boat on Stonewall Jackson Lake, the 2nd largest lake in West Virginia which is 26 miles long with 82 miles of shoreline. The West Virginia Mountains will provide a breathtaking backdrop during your lovely cruise. We will then head for home after a wonderful visit in West Virginia. (B, L)

One suitcase per person is included in the price of your tour. You are also permitted a carry-on, which is your responsibility.
