This one-of-a-kind cruise aboard the “Twilight” Riverboat is designed to bring back the glory days of the Victorian-era riverboats with fancy ironwork, stained glass, painted murals, lovely and freshly prepared meal service all day and more…filled with old and new charms. This is the most elegant riverboat to be launched in the last 100 years. Your full package is filled with an abundance of unique sightseeing, fun, entertainment topped off with delicious meals from beginning to end that we know you will love and appreciate.

Tour Itinerary:

August 6 – Our first overnight today will be a pleasant surprise in Northern Indiana Amish Country (Middlebury) where true hospitality is overflowing at our charming Inn. You will love this complex filled with lovely hotel rooms, gift shops, bakery, restaurant, miniature golf, carriage rides, and welcoming landscaping and walking paths to enjoy as you wish during your stay. Relax and take it all in. Dinner will be included tonight. (D)

August 7 – Breakfast included before we say goodbye to our home-away-from-home and continue on to Bettendorf, Iowa for an exciting stay at the Isle of Capri. Here, you will find everything you need under one roof, including hotel rooms, restaurants, casino action and entertainment. The Isle of Capri won the “Loosest Slots” award in the state of Iowa. (At time of print, casino bonus offered to our group is $ 10.00 slot play and complimentary breakfast next morning). If casino action is not to your liking there are many other options to explore such as the nearby Channel Cat Water Taxi located within a block of your hotel. For a small fee, you can enjoy a “hop on – hop off” water taxi for sightseeing, dining and shopping at several different stops where you can get off as you wish. Be sure to get a good night’s rest tonight so you are ready for an early morning tomorrow as we head out on our riverboat cruise bright and early. (B)

August 8 – Breakfast is included at your hotel if you wish. (Continental breakfast and snack will also be served on board your cruise this morning). We will then make our way to the boat dock of the Twilight Riverboat at the charming little river town of La Claire for boarding this morning. (We will be sailing from La Claire to Dubuque and back). Welcome to the glory days of riverboat travel as you step back in time to relax and unwind while cruising the Mississippi River in complete style! This is the most elegant riverboat to be launched in the last 100 years. Get ready to be pampered on this lovely cruise complete with a bounty of freshly prepared meals each day, snacks, unique entertainment, bingo, wildlife, and beautiful shoreline scenery with narration. Enjoy the outer decks of the Victorian Twilight for relaxing and strolling as you take in all there is to see as your captain steers through the many bends and turns of the Upper Mississippi River. We will travel through various locks as you experience this first hand from the outside decks while the captain narrates the procedure of “locking through”. Your meals are prepared fresh onboard in their fully stocked galley by their special on-board chef and served by their friendly wait staff at your assigned tables. Be sure to bring your binoculars and cameras because this cruise travels through the forested Upper Mississippi Wildlife Refuge which is filled with white pelicans, bald eagles, great blue herons, and many more which seem to have nests all along the way. (This is a vast wilderness hidden smack in the middle of a densely populated center of our country !) You will be serenaded with various forms of entertainment and music on board as you travel. Roam throughout the three decks as you wish and the captain will always announce when it is time for your next meal or snack service. Food is in abundance throughout your time on board and always prepared fresh. You may also want to visit the Pilot House where the captain will welcome you to have your picture taken with him if you wish. Your riverboat cruise will arrive early this evening to dock at River’s Edge Plaza at the Port of Dubuque, Iowa’s oldest city, where you will enjoy overnight accommodations at the new Grand Harbor Resort Hotel on the waterfront and close to lots of things to enjoy in Dubuque. You will have time this evening to explore the lovely hotel, enjoy a stroll along the river walk, visit the Diamond Joe Casino next door or partake in wine tasting at the nearby Stone Cliff Winery. These activities are all located at the Port of Dubuque and a short walk from your convenient hotel. (B, L, D…and snacks)

August 9 – Breakfast is served at your hotel restaurant this morning (and you won’t want to miss this wonderful breakfast spread to start your day!) Early this morning, continuous complimentary shuttle service is available to many area attractions such as Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium, Cable Car Square Shopping Center and more. Late morning, we are back on board the Twilight Riverboat for our return voyage where you can take in all the shoreline sights you may have missed. Another bountiful day of meal service will be included on board with lunch, snacks, and dinner. We’ll arrive in La Clair early this evening where our motorcoach will be waiting to take us to our local hotel for the evening after a fabulous two day adventure on the Mississippi. (B, L, D…and snacks)

August 10 – Breakfast included. We will then depart by motorcoach as we make way to our last overnight en route home at Napanee, Indiana and home of the delightful Amish Acres complex. Upon arrival we will enjoy a fully guided tour of this 1874 homestead including the farm and house and outside buildings of this three-generation Amish family – this is more than just a tour, it is a trip back in time. We will then check in to our overnight accommodations at the Inn at Amish Acres followed by a delicious home-made dinner filled with a family style feast of Amish country favorites. Your entertainment tonight will be at the Round Barn Theater on the premises where you will enjoy a live stage show. Over one hundred Broadway musicals have been produced over the last 25 years at the Round Barn Theater. This theater at Amish Acres is created from a 1911 round barn that was dismantled and resurrected at the this historic farmstead to become a resident professional theater – enjoy your evening ! (B, D)

CANCELED TOURS:
Gad-About Tours Inc. reserves the right to cancel any tour that has not reached a minimum number of reservations. We reserve the right to change tour prices and itinerary. Tours are prepared up to a year in advance and may be impacted by circumstances that arise which are beyond our control. We reserve the right to cancel or refuse service to anyone, in our sole discretion. We always avoid changes and cancellations if at all possible, as we realize the inconvenience to you, our valued customer.

TRANSPORTATION:
All of our tours are by late-model, deluxe wide-body motorcoach. They are equipped with air-conditioning, reclining seats, public address system, VCR, and emergency restrooms. Our intent is for all overnight tours to be professionally escorted for your convenience. Upon occasion, in order to avoid canceling a trip with a low passenger count, our driver may serve both positions of driver and escort, and all are professionally trained to do so. Also, on air trips with low passenger counts, we may not be able to provide an escort from our company. However, we will provide airport transportation*, plus a guide from our connecting company will meet you upon arrival at your destination and be with you throughout the entire tour. (*If only a few are going on a given air tour, we will pay your airport parking fee in lieu of using the coach.)

LODGING:
Your lodging is included on all overnight tours. All hotels are AAA rated. We never use second-rate hotels, restaurants, or activities on any tour, to the best of our ability to make that determination. Payment of telephone calls, room service, and other incidentals at places of lodging are the responsibility of the customer.

LUGGAGE:
One suitcase per person is included in the price of your tour. You are also permitted a carry-on, which is your responsibility. Additional luggage may be transported at the cost of $5.00 per bag, per day. It is wise to travel light. Luggage tags are provided and required for hotel identification, and are sent with the final letter with the phone numbers of your hotels.

TAXES AND GRATUITIES:
All taxes and gratuities for included meals and activities are included, unless otherwise mentioned by the Escort. Driver and Escort gratuities are not included in the price of the tour, and are optional. However, the suggested gratuity as posted by the American Bus Assoc. for a job well done is $2.00-$2.50 per person/per day for the tour escort, and $2.00-$2.50 per person/per day for the driver. We request that you express this on an individual basis, and let the quality of service received be your guide.

SEATING:
On all overnight tours, we use a daily seat rotation. The first day of a trip, we allow you to choose your seat when you get on, and rotate from there. We feel this is fair to all involved. If the coach is not full, a less formal rotation may be used at escort’s discretion.

SMOKING:
We make regular stops for restrooms and for the convenience of smokers; however, we have a NO SMOKING policy aboard all coaches. This policy also applies to e-cigarettes.

RESPONSIBILITY:
Gad-About Tours, Inc. is bonded, insured, and registered with the ICC, number MC 198451. Nor are we responsible for non-performance by those we have contracted with. Any claims against Gad-About Tours Inc. must be made, in writing, within 30 days of the trip.
