This trip has been a long time in coming!! Last year was our "maiden voyage" and the group that went just LOVED IT!!! We are so excited to offer you the opportunity again to see the gorgeous California Coast and all its highlights in a true once-in-a-lifetime experience. For those who don't like to fly, or cannot fly, we will take you on our own deluxe motorcoach out and back, seeing as much as we possibly can in our time together. Days 1 & 2: With excitement abounding, we load our luggage and point our coach Westward as we get acquainted with our fellow "California Dreamers"! Today's journey takes us to Bettendorf, Iowa where we overnight at the Isle of Capri. Our second day of travel takes us to our hotel in Kearney, Nebraska. Sleep well -- tomorrow's gonna' be a great day! (1-B)
Day 3: This morning we visit the Great Platte River Road Archway, an adventure that transports you back in time to an era when covered wagons, hand-pulled carts, and trains first criss-crossed the prairies. It's an interactive adventure that pays tribute to the pioneers who passed through Nebraska on their way West. Later today, upon arrival in Cheyenne, Wyoming, we will be guests at Terry's Bison Ranch where we'll take a train tour through the ranch to see the bison, and then have a wonderful Western meal. Days 4 & 5: Away we go to Moab, Utah and our two night stay at the Red Cliffs Lodge nestled on the banks of the Colorado River, surrounded by magnificent 2,000 feet-high cliffs - awesome! During our time here, we will have a guided tour of Arches National Park, a Dutch Oven Dinner, a 2-Hours Scenic Jet Boat Tour with Navajo Fry Bread Lunch, a Riverside Lunch ... and more free time to enjoy the scenic ara and your lovely lodge, per your request! (2-B, 1-L, 2-D)
Day 6: Salt Lake City is our destination today, and if we're very lucky, we just might be able to catch a rehearsal this evening of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir! No guarantees, because their rehearsal schedule isn't out yet, but they often do them on Thursdays, so cross your fingers! If not, enjoy a relaxing evening at our SLC hotel, (B, L)
Day 7: A day primarily of travel as we cross into Nevada with a late afternoon arrival at the Eldorado Casino Resort in the heart of downtown Reno. Even if you are not into gaming, this provides a very lovely place to overnight as it is one of Reno's newest hotels and is connected to two other properties via a skywalk, including Circus, Circus. (B)
Day 8: An early departure allows us to arrive in time to hear "All Aboard" as the Napa Valley Gourmet Wine Train awaits us. Above the crowd, almost 180-degree Napa Valley vineyard vistas will be yours to enjoy under the antique dome windows as you relax on a 3 hour round-trip journey through one of the world's most well-known wine valleys. A glass of California wine and a 4-course freshly-prepared lunch will be served in your reserved Vista Dome Car, and elevated observation-style dining car expertly refurbished using mahogany paneling and brass accents. Then it's on to "The City by the Bay", San Francisco! Our home for the next 3 nights is a 5-minute walk from Fisherman's Wharf, in the middle of the bustling waterfront area. So much to see and do here ~ Fun, Fun!! (B, L)
Day 9: A guided San Francisco tour will be today's great adventure! See things such as the Golden Gate Bridge & Park, a view of Lombard Street with its famous Cable Cars, China town, Twin Peaks, and as much more as time allows. Then this evening we'll set sail from Pier 3 on a San Francisco Bay dinner Cruise. Enjoy a live band, 4-course meal, and magnificent sights - what a great day! "I Left My Heart in San Francisco ... Day 10: Departing from Fisherman's Wharf, we cross the Golden Gate Bridge to a canyon filled with ancient redwood trees known as Muir Woods National Monument. Enjoy solitude and peace as you stroll through 1000-year-old towering trees! Next is Sausalito, a Mediterranean-like village harbored across the San Francisco Bay, famous for its sweeping views and timeless ambiance. The afternoon will find us catching the ferry for the Alcatraz Island Cruise-tour, considered the best of the Alcatraz tour choices. It includes a narrated boat tour around the island, a guided tour from the dock to the main prison building, and "Doing Time: The Alcatraz Cellhouse Tour". And who knows .... there might even be time for a cable car ride later ~ What a unique and fascinating day!! (B)
Day 11: Yosemite National Park covers an area of 761,268 acres (roughly the size of Rhode Island) and reaches across the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountain chain. Over 3.7 million people visit Yosemite each year; most spend their time in the seven square miles of Yosemite Valley. Designated a World Heritage Site in 1984, Yosemite is internationally recognized for its spectacular granite cliffs, waterfalls, clear streams and Giant Sequoia groves. On our 2-hour tour rangers will introduce some of Yosemite's most famous sightseeing points in Yosemite Valley such as Yosemite Falls, Half Dome, El Capitan, Tunnel View, Bridalveil Falls and more. Then we continue to Chukchansa Gold Casino Resort, providing us restful, lovely overnight accommodations. (B, D)
Day 12: Today we enjoy some of the Pacific Ocean's most scenic coastal touring. Considered by National Geographic to be one of the "World's Most Spectacular Drives of a Lifetime", California's Pacific Coast Highway, also known as Rt. 1, is an exhilarating driving experience along central California's rugged, rocky coast. Have plenty of film in your camera as we depart from Monterey and make photo stops at overlooks in places such as Big Sur and Nepenthe! All along the way, views of the Pacific Ocean will take your breath away. We stop for our overnight in San Simeon at a lovely oceanfront hotel where dinner is included. (D)
Day 13: Travel back in time and experience what is was like to be an honored guest at the stately Hearst Castle, originally known as "The Enchanted Hill." this mansion, which W.R. Heart called a "ranch", consists of 165 rooms, (including 56 bedrooms, 51 bathrooms, 19 sitting rooms) and 127 acres of gardens, terraces, pools, an airfield, and the world's largest private zoo. Enjoy a tour and then some free time to explore - this place is absolutely unbelievable! Continuing down Rt. 1, we arrive mid-afternoon in the Danish village of Solvang located in the Santa Ynez Valley. You will love the architecture of many of the buildings which reflect traditional Danish style. There is a copy of the famous Little Mermaid statue from Copenhagen, as well as one featuring the bust of famed Danish fable writer Hans Christian Anderson. A replica of Copenhagen's Round Tower or Rundetarn can be seen in the town center. Our hotel's great location will give you ample time to roam and enjoy this quaint village to your heart's content. Day 14: Passing by Santa Barbara Beach (with a stop, if open to the public), we make our way to Simi Valley. Perched atop a hill with sweeping views of the southland, the Reagan Presidential Library is one of California's most beautiful and unique destinations. In a storied career that spanned more than 5 decades, Ronald Reagan inspired Americans to act and achieve even more than they imagined. His legacy thrives at the Library where exhibits rediscover his values, actions, and spirit of determination. You will enjoy a self-guided tour as well as access to the Air Force One pavilion. Then on we go to the "City of Angels", Los Angeles! The most populous city in California and the second-most populous in the USA after New York City, we could spend a week here and not see everything. But we have chosen what's considered "the best of the best", and can't wait for you to see it with your own eyes! Our hotel for the next 3 nights is on the outskirts of a town in Hawthorne. Relax and rest up for a marvelous time comin' your way! (D)
Day 15: We start right off with a wonderful guided tour of L.A. to see such things as the legendary streets of Hollywood Blvd, Mann Chinese Theater, Kodak Theater, the famous Hollywood Sign, Santa Monica Pier, Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, Hollywood Walk of Fame, homes of Movie Stars, and as much more as time allows! Later in the afternoon, we will be guests for the highly-rated Warner Brothers VIP Studio Tour! See "Behind-the-Scenes" and "into-the-scenes" of your favorite shows and movies at the world's busiest motion picture and television studio. Ride through back lot streets, sound stages, sets and craft shops. Walk on to the set of a hit TV show, watch as artists create sound effects for movies, see how sets are constructed, see your favorite vehicle from film and TV up close, and the list goes on. But always, always be on the lookout for a star as production is happening all around! (B)
Day 16: What a special day this will be, the morning is free to relax and jenjoy your surroundings. Later we set sail for picturesque Catalina Island! Discover paradise, where endless crystal clear waters and dramatic vistas surround you. With its year-round Mediterranean climate, and plenty of activities to enjoy, it's no wonder more than a million travelers choose Catalina Island as their getaway each year. The town of Avalon is the main destination, and there are many activities to enjoy like water sports, biking, hiking, and horseback riding, para-sailing, golfing and kayaking. Restful visitors enjoy bus tours or walking on the beach. There are more than 35 restaurants and plenty of places to shop in Avalon, which is a total of only one square mile! Walk, rent a golf cart, or take the tram - the day is yours to plan any way you wish - the choices are many and the views are breath-taking. You won't want to leave! (B, D)
Day 17: Today our journey takes us to "America's Finest City", San Diego - the 8th largest city in the USA and 2nd largest in California. It is one of the fastest growing cities in the nation and is known for its mild year-round climate, deep-water harbor, extensive beaches, and long association with the U.S. Navy. San Diego's Spanish and Mexican heritage is reflected in many historic sites, and over 100 distinct neighborhoods comprise this beautiful, thriving city. Last year's group wanted more time in Old Town, so we have re-arranged things a bit to give you plenty of opportunity to enjoy it thoroughly! Old Town San Diego State Historic Park is actually a protected historical area honoring the early days of the town of San Diego, and includes many historic building fromthe 1800's. It recreates San Diego as it existd during the Mexican and early American periods. The park was established in 1968 and is the most visited state park in California. Explore as you wish and then enjoy dinner before departing. Our home for the next 2 nights is on Shelter Island at a waterfront hotel on San Diego Bay offering gorgeous views of the downtown skyline and yacht marina. Sleep well ... more great times are comin' right up! (B, D)
Day 18: Up and at em' for a scenic guided tour of San Diego, California! Included will be things such as the historic Seaport Village, La Jolla, Hotel Del Coronado and Coronado Bridge, Old Towne, Balbo Park and as much more as we can squeeze in! A fabulous day of touring! (B)
Day 19: On to Palm Springs, a desert resort city rich in history and blessed with gorgeous weather. Nestled at the baes of the Mount San Jacinto Mountains, Palm Springs is known for its crystal blue skies, year-round sunshine and stunning landscape. The streets, lined with palm trees, invite you to explore boutiques shops, art galleries and museums while soaking up the sunshine or dining outdoors among stunning desert scenery. Palm Springs has also been sprinkled with Hollywood stardust, where the holiday homes of stars such as Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope and Lucille Ball paved the way for the visionary efforts of former Mayor Sonny Bono to occur; namely , the Palm springs International Film Festival. During our time here, we'll take the "Celebrity Home Tour" and discover some secluded retreats and exclusive estates of Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe or Elvis Presley. This year, we are spending the night here, also! With a location just a couple fo blocks fromthe main area, you can spend the evening any way you wish, walking the paths the stars of long-ago walked and getting the full flavor of legendary greatness. Fun, fun! (B)
Day 20: Often called "Red Rock country", Sedona, Arizona is our destination today and home to some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. This picturesque artist's town is surrounded by red-rock monoliths and at one end, boasts the stunning Oak Creek Canyon, a breath-taking chasm that is a photographer's dream. Kick back and relax for 2 nights at our special Sedona hotel which features spectacular views from your balcony or patio. (B, D)
Day 21: Today is mostly a free day in Sedona to enjoy any way you wish. We do include your tickets for the 2 excellent, narrated Trolley Tours which include a stop at the Chapel of the Holy Cross and Dry Creek Valley. On your own, since Sedona is considered a Southwest Art Mecca, perhaps you'll want to check out the Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village, a replica of Guadalajara, a charming town in Mexico .. or the Sedona Arts Center, or the Sedona Heritage Museum. Maybe even take a "Red Rock Jeep Tour" out into the canyon - the choices are all yours. 'Have a rockin' good time (I know, bad pun)! (B)
Day 22: This will be one GRAND day, without a doubt!! The "Grand Canyon", that is! With a morning departure from Williams, Arizona, we'll ride the Grand Canyon Railway with panoramic views from our Observation Dome Seats. Traveling north to the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park, the trip takes 2 hours 15 minutes each way. At the Canyon, you will have about 3 hours to enjoy an included lunch and a narrated bus tour to scenic overlooks. Following this, we have several hours of free time at the South Rim to enjoy the magnificence of this masterpiece of nature before our coach delivers us to our hotel. Truly, the Grand Canyon is one of the most spectacular and biggest sites on Earth. Our overnight is in Williams. (B, L)
Day 23- 25: Today we must begin our journey Eastward. Relax as our professional motorcoach Driver takes you across the country in fine style, arriving in Santa Rosa, New Mexico for the night. Next day, we travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma with a nice dinner included. Our next-to-last day finds us arriving in Effingham, Illinois with a Farewell Dinner at Neimerg's Steakhouse. (3-B, 2-D)
Day 26: Home is today's destination as we bid fond farewell to our new travel buddies, and prepare to share with our families and friends the many, many exciting and fascinating experience gleaned on this "California Coastal Dream Trip!!! (B)

Special Note: While we expect no significant changes along the way, please realize that we are dealing with very new vendors and cannot guarantee their performance, although we have done our "homework" and are using only top-recommended hotels, companies, and personnel. Should something not be available upon arrival, we will do our very best to substitute something equally enjoyable. Thank you for your understanding!
Note: We have found the hotels in California not to be especially "user-friendly". In other words, they have very strict contract policies regarding cancellations and how long they will hold our reservations. In order to assure that we maintain all reservations, we need your deposit AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so that we know how many are planning to go, and if we have enough to run this tour. Balance will be due in full by February 13th (a great Valentine's gift!), and non-refundable from that point on, unless you purchase the cancellation insurance, which will be sent to you for your perusal upon making your reservation. We strongly advise taking out the insurance to protect your investment.

Terms and Conditions:
For overnight tours, the deposit is based on the cost of the tour as follows:
- Overnight Tours Under $150 > $25 Deposit
- Overnight Tours $150-$800 > $75 Deposit
- Overnight Tours $801-$1,500 > $100 Deposit
- Overnight Tours over $1,501 > $250 Deposit
Up to 30 days prior to departure date, a full refund will be made. *Air and cruise tours, and some longer tours, may be different—be sure to ask for details when making your reservation. Tours including tickets also generally have earlier non-refundable dates. There are no refunds for cancellations made within 30 days prior to your departure date. However, we will do our best to recover as much as we can, but cannot guarantee anything. There will be no refund, for any reason, for a “no-show” on the day of the tour. A “Refund Protection Plan” is available at our office at a minimal cost. This insures you a full refund in case of a death or illness in the immediate family up to 24 hours before the tour departs. (It does require a doctor’s written note or copy of death notice.) On longer tours, we have a special insurance plan available if you are interested, and it will be sent to you with your confirmation. We encourage you to take advantage of these protection plans. The Refund Protection Plan does not apply to Day Trips, nor are there any refunds for Day Trips, with a few exceptions.
Gad-About Tours Inc. reserves the right to cancel any tour that has not reached a minimum number of reservations. We reserve the right to change tour prices and itinerary. Tours are prepared up to a year in advance and may be impacted by circumstances that arise which are beyond our control. We reserve the right to cancel or refuse service to anyone, in our sole discretion. We always avoid changes and cancellations if at all possible, as we realize the inconvenience to you, our valued customer.
All of our tours are by late-model, deluxe wide-body motorcoach. They are equipped with air-conditioning, reclining seats, public address system, VCR, and emergency restrooms. Our intent is for all overnight tours to be professionally escorted for your convenience. Upon occasion, in order to avoid canceling a trip with a low passenger count, our driver may serve both positions of driver and escort, and all are professionally trained to do so. Also, on air trips with low passenger counts, we may not be able to provide an escort from our company. However, we will provide airport transportation*, plus a guide from our connecting company will meet you upon arrival at your destination and be with you throughout the entire tour. (*If only a few are going on a given air tour, we will pay your airport parking fee in lieu of using the coach.)
Your lodging is included on all overnight tours. All hotels are AAA rated. We never use second-rate hotels, restaurants, or activities on any tour, to the best of our ability to make that determination. Payment of telephone calls, room service, and other incidentals at places of lodging are the responsibility of the customer.
One suitcase per person is included in the price of your tour. You are also permitted a carry-on, which is your responsibility. Additional luggage may be transported at the cost of $5.00 per bag, per day. It is wise to travel light. Luggage tags are provided and required for hotel identification, and are sent with the final letter with the phone numbers of your hotels.
TAXES AND GRATUITIES:
All taxes and gratuities for included meals and activities are included, unless otherwise mentioned by the Escort. Driver and Escort gratuities are not included in the price of the tour, and are optional. However, the suggested gratuity as posted by the American Bus Assoc. for a job well done is $2.00-$2.50 per person/per day for the tour escort, and $2.00-$2.50 per person/per day for the driver. We request that you express this on an individual basis, and let the quality of service received be your guide.
On all overnight tours, we use a daily seat rotation. The first day of a trip, we allow you to choose your seat when you get on, and rotate from there. We feel this is fair to all involved. If the coach is not full, a less formal rotation may be used at escort’s discretion.
We make regular stops for restrooms and for the convenience of smokers; however, we have a NO SMOKING policy aboard all coaches. This policy also applies to e-cigarettes.
Gad-About Tours, Inc. is bonded, insured, and registered with the ICC, number MC 198451. We act only as agents and are not responsible to any person for any loss of time or money due to a change or delay beyond our control. Nor are we responsible for non-performance by those we have contracted with. Any claims against Gad-About Tours Inc. must be made, in writing, within 30 days of the trip.
