Washington, DC—This spring, Ford’s Theatre honors the life and legacy of Abraham Lincoln and commemorates 150 years since his assassination with an epic concert-style musical, Freedom’s Song. The production features the words of our 16th president and music inspired by the letters of those who lived through the Civil War. With rousing music, stirring speeches and rich, historic costumes, Freedom’s Song evokes the soaring hopes and tragic losses of the real people of Civil War America. As we remember this tragic event, there is also cause to celebrate with the seasonal arrival of the cherry blossoms, first given as a gift of friendship from the Japanese. The annual celebration includes festival activities around the DC area and we have reserved seats for the spectacular Cherry Blossom Parade. Stroll the Tidal Basin to view the beautiful trees, tour the museums of the National Mall, visit the Arlington National Cemetery, and take time to explore the numerous other legacies etched throughout the city since our nation’s birth.
