Tour Itinerary

DAY 1:

Arrive in the beautiful port city of Vancouver, British Columbia, nestled along the shores of the Pacific Ocean and accented by the North Shore Mountains. It's a city with spectacular views, old-world charm, popular gardens, a diverse culture, and natural highlights, all complimented by a cosmopolitan and modern flair. Settle into the hotel in the heart of downtown near the waterfront.

DAY 2:

VANCOUVER CITY TOUR: Travel via motorcoach with a local guide narrating the many attractions that encompass the city. The cultural heritage of the city is showcased with visits to British-flavored Gastown; Chinatown, which is second in size only to San Francisco; and the Queen Elizabeth Park. Further, the city tour highlights Prospect Point and English Bay.

GRANVILLE ISLAND PUBLIC MARKET: An island located in the middle of the city and home to the crown jewel, Public Market. Unique homemade products, fresh food straight from the farm, bakers and more. Shop for unique crafts and gifts while enjoying the waterfront scenery.

STANLEY PARK HORSE-DRAWN TOUR: Climb aboard an old-fashioned, horse-drawn vehicle for a narrated one-hour tour through Stanley Park, Vancouver's first and largest urban park. Many famous landmarks and monuments will be highlighted: Vancouver's Harbour, Lions Gate Bridge, Rose Garden, Coastal Red Cedar Forest, Totem Poles and The S.S. Empress of Japan Figurehead.

DAY 3:

CAPILANO CANYON SUSPENSION BRIDGE: Home of one of the world's longest suspension bridges at 450 feet across and 230 feet high! Walk across the bridge to Treetops Adventure, a series of seven suspended footbridges attached to eight 250-year-old Douglas firs. View the towering evergreens, smell the cedar-scented rainforest air, all while listening to the soft sounds of nature. For the most thrilling journey in the park, walk on the cantilevered and suspended walkways jutting out from the granite cliffs above the Capilano River through rainforest vegetation. An awe-inspiring experience!

GROUSE MOUNTAIN SKYRIDE: Soar up to the top of The Peak of Vancouver, approximately 3700 feet above sea level in North America's Largest aerial tramway. This one-mile journey offers breathtaking views of the city, Pacific Ocean, Gulf Islands and the mountainside peaks.

DAY 4:

VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA: After a 90-minute cruise through the Gulf Islands onboard the ferry, arrive in Victoria, known as the "City of Gardens" and the capital city of British Columbia. This island oasis of old-world charm was established in 1843 and her English heritage is apparent in the double-decker buses, horse-drawn carriages, tea rooms and formal gardens.

CITY TOUR: Narrated motorcoach tour filled with historical points of interest. Sights include: the Victorian-era Parliament Buildings dating back to the late 1800s and located in the hub of the city center; Beacon Hill Park; Oak Bay and Uplands areas. The Inner Harbour's two-tiered waterfront walkway bustles with activity from artisans to musicians.

BUTCHART GARDENS: 50 acres of flora and fauna that is sure to amaze! This beautiful garden, founded by the Butchart family in 1904, sits on what was once a limestone quarry and cement plant. Take a self-guided stroll through the Sunken, Rose, Japanese, Italian and Mediterranean Gardens for a spectacular and magnificent overview of this grand landscape.

AFTERNOON TEA IN VICTORIA: A tradition dating back to 1908 and surely not to be missed while in Victoria! Stop by the Fairmont Empress Hotel, one of the world's best hotels, and renowned for its Afternoon Tea which has been served to more than 100,000 international visitors each year. (Dress code observed.)

DAY 5:

CRAIGDARROCH CASTLE: Known as "Canada's Castle," and perched on a hillside overlooking the city, it was built from 1887-1890 during the reign of Queen Victoria for a Scottish immigrant and coal baron. A self-guided audio tour of this National Historic Site provides a glimpse into life in the 1890s, showcasing family history, restored furnishings and gardens.

BC FERRY: Hop onboard the ferry for the return trip to Vancouver. Sit back and relax as you take in the picturesque landscapes, seascapes and the opportunity to witness marine life.

FAREWELL DINNER: Top off this tour with a dining experience sure to make memories!

DAY 6:

Your memories of the cultural history, spectacular scenery, glorious gardens and natural beauty have come to a conclusion. Fly back to the Midwest and reflect on your favorite aspect of this journey!

PER PERSON PENALITIES (based on business days prior to departure)

Extended Motorcoach:
30 + days prior to departure, there will be a $0 per person penalty. 29-4 days prior to departure, there will be a $100 per person penalty plus any unrecoverable fees. 3-0 days (72 business hours) prior to departure, there will be no refund.
One Day Motorcoach:
30 + days prior to departure, there will be a $0 per person penalty. 29-4 days prior to departure, there will be a penalty of 50% of the tour cost or the cost of the ticketed event (whichever is higher). 3-0 days (72 business hours) prior to departure, there will be no refund.
Flyaway/Cruise Packages:
Rules/regulations vary by vendor and package. Refer to tour description. **Cancelling passengers on most motorcoach tours can provide a replacement person(s) for the seat(s.) The office must be notified of the name replacement at the time of cancellation or within the timeline provided by tour office. No one is permitted to board the motorcoach whose name is not on the manifest.
One Day Tours: An invoice with timing will be issued at time of reservation and emailed to client (or sent via US Mail if no e-mail is available.) Multi-Day Motorcoach Tours: An invoice will be issued at time of reservation and emailed to client (or sent via US Mail if no e-mail is available.) A tour itinerary and bag tags will be issued at least 2 weeks prior to departure and sent via US Mail. Flyaway and Cruise Offerings: An invoice will be issued at time of reservation and emailed to client (or sent via US Mail if no e-mail is available.) A tour itinerary and bag tags will be issued at least 2 weeks prior to departure and sent via US Mail. Exceptions, due to outside vendors, will be explained at time of reservations.
A valid U.S. Passport for travel outside the United States via land, air, or sea is required. All International travel requires a U.S. Passport valid for 6 months beyond departure date from foreign country.
Each tour participant is pre-registered by advance reservation. Upon arrival, room keys will be obtained by the tour director or driver and distributed accordingly. Arrangements will be made for your luggage to be delivered to your room and returned to the motorcoach at check-out time unless otherwise indicated. Room assignments are made by the hotel in an impartial manner. All nonsmoking rooms are requested. If any special service (ex: smoking room, ADA accessible room) is required, please advise at time of reservation.
Our “single Share Program is offered on most of Van Galder Tour & Travel’s motorcoach extended-day tours (exceptions will be listed on individual tour outlines). If travelling alone and you would like to share a room with another person of the same sex, please advise the Van Galder staff member assisting you at the time of reservation. The tour MUST be booked at least 45 days prior to departure to take advantage of this offer. Tour & Travel will try to match you with another tour participant traveling alone who would like to share. If the two of you determine that there is a match, you and your roommate will travel at the double rate. If there is no match, each traveler will pay the single rate. Van Galder is NOT responsible for the personal habits of our clients.
Any disability requiring special attention must be reported to Van Galder Tour & Travel at time of reservation. Van Galder will make reasonable efforts to accommodate the special needs of tour participants, but are not responsible in the event we are unable to do so, or if any of the vendors deny services. We strongly advise persons with special needs to travel with a qualified and physically able companion. Van Galder tour directors and/or drivers are not to act as a travel attendant to any client with special needs, or physically lift or assist clients into transportation vehicles. A minimum of 48 hours advance notice in writing is required for a wheelchair accessible bus. ** Please note: the Americans with Disabilities Act is not applicable outside of the United States and facilities for disabled individuals may be limited.
Motorcoach tours include most necessary tips for bellman, doorman, and dining room meals as noted on itineraries, plus all taxes unless otherwise indicated. Gratuities /taxes may vary for flyaway/cruise tours and will be noted on tour itinerary. Tips are appreciated by the tour directors and drivers who work diligently to ensure your trip is enjoyable. Suggested per person amount is $3.00 per day for each tour director and driver, however are optional and at client discretion.
We use state-of-the-art motorcoaches, which are climate controlled with comfortable reclining seats, footrests, overhead storage, rest rooms, public address system, GPS units, seat belts and large panoramic windows for your viewing enjoyment. Although seat belts are not required at this time, Van Galder strongly suggests the use of seat belts at all times. Note: It is difficult to maintain the motorcoach at a temperature that is comfortable for everyone, a light jacket is suggested.
Smoking, including the use of electronic simulated smoking materials, e-cigarettes, and smokeless cigarettes is prohibited in all workplaces, facilities and vehicles of Coach USA and its affiliates.
Alcohol is not permitted on board any Van Galder Tour & Travel retail tour. If you wish to bring alcohol, coolers will be allowed and stored under the motorcoach in the luggage bay, only to be taken out and consumed off of the motorcoach upon arrival at the destination.
Each person is permitted to bring one large piece of luggage to be stowed in the luggage bay. Also, a small carry-on size bag is allowed to be stowed in the overhead bin on the motorcoach, and is the responsibility of the client.
Take sufficient supply of prescription medication to last duration of the tour. It is very difficult to get prescriptions refilled while enroute. Keep medications on your person at all times.
Seat assignments are made on extended day tours only and are assigned based on booking date order from the front of the motorcoach back. No special requests for seats will be honored. All passengers on a three or more day tour will participate in daily rotation. The seat rotation protocol will be explained by the Tour Directors on all extended trips.

Most Van Galder retail motorcoach tours grant a $3.00 per person, per day, travel dollar to all paid tour participants. Travel Dollars can be used on any future Van Galder retail tour and do not expire. Note: Chicago Fun Days, Casino Tours, Cruises and all Flyaway tours are excluded.

Children under the age of 18 years old are welcomed to travel on any of our tours, however must be accompanied by an adult. Van Galder Tour & Travel reserves the right to accept or reject any person as a tour participant. Van Galder Tour & Travel reserves the right to substitute hotels of equal or better grade, the right to alter sightseeing schedules, or substitute the type of transportation when operationally necessary, and reserves the right to cancel any tour up to seven days prior to departure. Tour prices include only the meals, accommodations, etc... that are listed in the individual tour itinerary. Maid, laundry service, telephone calls, room service, alcoholic beverages, souvenirs, and other items of a personal nature are not included. No responsibility will be accepted for lack of appropriate medical facilities, weather, losses, strikes, criminal acts, war, terrorism, computer difficulties, delay or other complications not under the supervision of Van Galder Tour & Travel.
